Joining the band and grooving

First off, I would like to give credit where credit is due: Hayden would like to thank Titi, Radars Mom for giving the URL to the ABC Game on Fisher Prices website. "Thanks Radars Mommy." We had a great time pressing the keyboard and making different animal sounds. Extra plus is Hayden loves animals! We fooled around with the learning about Opposites Game, which he got a kick at pointing at the laugh n play dog. But nothing compared to the Musical Instrument Game. I decided to hook up my laptop to our television in our living room because I could connect our wireless keyboard to it, the screen is bigger, I needed more space than I have at my desktop. (Yes, I have two computers, I am a computer geek!) Any-who, I knew most likely he would dance but never like this...

Hayden is a natural when it comes to music: he loves tickling the ivories at Grandma's house, beating on pots and pans and his toy drums, or playing on my guitar or his little guitar. And whenever music comes on he loves practicing his white boy moves. LOL. GO Hayden! I know Radar dances too, he can move and groove AND he is a table dance extraordinaire! With that list of achievements and Hayden's these two can make a boy band...(flahes of Backstreet Boys and Nsync)
eee...maybe not.

BAB: Weigh In

It's almost the end of August and my goal was to lose 4 pounds by the beginning of August, with at a weight of 160. Here's how I did. Well, I lost 4 pounds and 6 ounces exactly on July 25th, strictly by changing little things in my diet-no exercise as I never made it to the gym. I ate more vegetables and fruits through out the day and for dinner a greater portion of veggies and fruits than starchy and meat items. But I can't say that I have had no exercise at all: I did have a very active 14 month old to look after.

Next goal: 4lbs by September

Let's make it happen!

Potty Time?

Today, following Hayden's breakfast, he climbed onto the coffee table and squatted, grunting. Knowing that he was either trying to go or going, I said, "diaper, diaper change?" And his responded, "ca-ca." To say I was dumbfounded would be an understatement. Hayden is only 13 months, he doesn't even have his own potty yet, and while I have given some thought into potty training, I did think I had more time. I only started teaching him what "ca-ca" and "pee-pee" last week in preparation for his potty training between 20 and 24 months! That's between 7 and 11 months from now! So for him to get the connection of what "ca-ca" is so quick is mind blowing to me.
And while I still think Hayden is too young to start to potty training, I am going to talk with his doctor about probably at his 15 month check-up and I think I will probably have to start earlier than I originally planned at 18 months.

P.S. This tale of potty time didn't end so well... As it turns out Hayden was trying to go "ca-ca" and telling me in advance (who knew?). So I changed his diaper shortly thereafter to find SURPRISE! Only pee. He got up like a hurricane with me telling him he only peed. I wrapped his diaper, hearing him snickering, before total silence. I was in lala land, throwing away his diaper when I hear "ca-ca" again. It swiftly dons on me: he wasn't done! I shout a too-late "No!" as I see Hayden squatting between the coffee table and couch finishing his business. It was my fault and I took it as that, and it didn't help that when he was done he got up, ran off, smiling and laughing, which I thought was cute. Still, my little stinker, tried to play in his "ca-ca" as I tried to clean it up. I stopped him from doing that, what I couldn't stop was him walking in what wasn't cleaned yet. So potty time turned into bath time and a very good lesson learned for mommy...
Mommy's going to tell Daddy he can potty train :)

Weekend Adventures with the Boyles Family

Last Saturday, we awoke bright and early to spend the morning at Millerton Lake. I was very nervous as this was Hayden's first time on a boat and his first time going to the lake, I had no idea how anything was going to turn out. I was very nervous of him going overboard(yikes!) or even not liking the speed or motion of the boat. Prior to our visit things were not going so well with him and his life vest because he hated the darn thing. So again he could have gone out to the lake and had a meltdown about simply having to wear his life vest. Thinking since he loves water, he will like the lake, I stuffed my worries away and decided to go.
And to my pleasure, he was a pro and LOVED the lake. We got more than a few pictures with him enjoying the boat, none though of him in the water as everyone was in the water at the same time.

Getting the feel of the boat

Checking up on Mommy

He was very interested in me liking the boat

As soon as we stopped, he turned on the charm...

by quickly jumping into the driver's seat

Enjoying cantaloupe

trying to take the camera

Stealing mommy's life vest

Talking w/ cantaloupe in his mouth

"Mommy, I will give you your life vest back..."

"...If we can come back soon"

Ugh! Sigh...

Oreo cookies for breakfast...not a good start for the day. But I'm hoping to have a vegetable and fruit filled rest of the day. Maybe light soups, salads, and vegetable sides...anything that has only zero points.

Changing and growing

Three simple months ago Hayden was 10 months- Not that long ago really- But my oh my how my little guy has changed.

These are picture when he was 10 months old

He was walking with a toddle walk, now he is sprinting around and walking heel to toe

He could say 2-4 words then, now he has about 8-10 words he can say

His was in a size 6-9 in pants for his height of 29in, now he is in a size 18 for his height of 31in. Which doesn't fit his waist still! He is super tall and skinny!

He had about 10 teeth, now he has 16 chompers

He has learned to get in the bathtub, stroller, highchair, chairs by himself; kick and kick a ball; navagate a playground without help; and clap for himself; plus so much more! I can't believe how much he is growing and changing in front of my eyes. And I only have a few days until he is 14 months!

BAB Weigh in?

Okay, while I have not been monitoring my calories as much as I should or would like, and the gym is still on my to do list, I have lost 1 pound. Now this is not the greatest news but at least I am losing something instead of gaining. Still I would like to see myself do two things by the end of July: see two more pounds fly off my body and see myself to the gym. Sigh...maybe tomorrow...

Baby's Day at the Park pt 2

As I said in my last post Hayden had a really good time at the park yesterday and I am thrilled to death at his advancement. This little boy never ceases to amaze me!

He climbed the play structures all by himself. Like when he wanted the slide, he ran up the stairs, through a tunnel, across a bridge and onto the slide. Now this park doesn't have a tot lot, in fact it is designed for 2-12 years old, Hayden is only 13 months!

Hayden climbing like a pro

He climbed this multiple times and I was so delighted by it

Baby's Day at the Park

To make sure that my husband, David, Hayden and I spend some time as a family on a regular basis, I have decided to carve out weekend activities and adventures for us to do together. I also figure that this will give us family time together. Following a quick jetting to the bank and to stand in line at Wal-Mart to return a scale, I decided to take Hayden to the park. With it being 100+ degrees outside lately in Fresno, Hayden's visits to the park have been limited to late evenings before the sun has set between 5 and 7 o'clock. Which is hard to schedule with Hayden having to be to bed at 9:00pm and still needing dinner done with time for Hayden a bath.
With a quick change for the lil' guy, we trotted on to the park.

I was very surprised by...

How strong and coordinated he has gotten in a few short months...

He climbed down the steps...

upright, holding the rail, like a big boy!

Yay!

He slid down

the slide

Just to

Climb up

again!

He also swung on the swings, climbed through the tunnel, and the best part was that he was the one who did it all no help from us. He ran to whatever he wanted, maneuvering with the coordination of a toddler months ahead of him! We had so much fun that it's too big for a single post! To be con'd...

Tidbit: My Blanket Baby

I am a big blanket person, I may as well be Linus. I love to cuddle up with a blanket in a rocking chair to read a book any day, and every night I love to snuggle up with my comforter for sleeping bliss. So naturally, I wanted my son to be a blanket baby. Still, it did not seem that he cared a twit about blankets until I realized that he won't sleep without one. At night he loves his covers on him, and during the day when I lay him down in the crib for a nap he instantly wakes, fussing, until I can get his blankets on him. It is only then, under the comfort of his blankie, my little Linus falls blissfully back to sleep.

Fun times when packing

"You can't capture me if I go this way!"

"How about if I go this way?"

"Nope, lets go back this way..."

"Man, you got me!"

P.S...

I'm trying to remember when...

Life was so easy...

That I had this much fun...

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

Today I spend the day at my Mom's house because my apartment is getting sprayed for pests. And while I hated being uprooted and having to stay away from the apartment for four hours, I did have fun chasing after Hayden. And as you can see it looks like Hayden also had a little too much fun with my Mom's new dog, Biscuit.
