And Sickness Becomes Us

Hayden and I have been uber sick. Hayden has been hit with the works: puke, fever, diarrhea, sleepiness. It makes me sad he has to be this sick when others are enjoying our cold Spring weather (trust me cold Spring weather is a God send for the Central Valley) But he has been handling it like a champ. I love age 2- Terrible twos eat your heart out, this is the best most perfect age!
Me, I started with what I hate the most: sore throat, icky! Then I got overcome with a stinkin' cold! I hate being sick. Like really it sux the life out of me that  something can invade my body and make me feel like such crap and that I am so vulnerable to it.
The funny part about this is Hayden is handling it better than I. He has been cuddling with me (awesome!) No, I didn't just say it was awesome that my kid is sick and I enjoy the extra cuddles.  *side eye* Another thing he has been tolerating is the telly and some good books. He has become quite the t.v. person now that he is sick (mainly because he has no energy) he will sit and pay attention to it for longer now. And me reading him 50 jillion books with long narratives. He can talk well so he tells me "T.V., T.V." and hands me the remote and tells me what he wants to watch. He doesn't play too much with his cars but still begs endlessly to go outside and who am I to say "sit, veg in front of the telly no outside." Bad Mia! Nope, I dress him and enjoy the explorer in him. Maybe he will like nature and Earth as much as I do.
Then there's me I am whining and complaining about my cold, I thankfully have no sore throat anymore. YES.

Wkend Pt Deuce

Okay. I really honestly forgot that today was Wednesday, indeed 100 and 10% for the life of me I thought it was Tuesday. Where has my week exactly gone? BUSY. Busy doing Mommy stuff, not getting any sleep because my toddler wants Mommy to cuddle with him in his new bed, trying to my house organized (sent I got back from Los Angeles I have had little to no motivation to keep up with simple tasks such as putting laundry away). I have several laundry baskets waiting to be folded and/or hung, putting me behind in the dirty stuff because I don't want to wash and have more baskets. I really need to get on it A Sap BUT...I have a toddler that always wants me outside.
Then there's writing. Yes, I have started back writing, so happy I have gotten my mojo back. But it takes soo much time and effort to balance motherhood and getting in enough time to write. I am hoping to find some time to pen some poems that I can post on my LiveJournal. And I also have picked up my guitar again, yes Hayden still messes with it but I kinda brush it off because I am secretly overjoyed to the max that he even likes the darn thing.

Anywho I had a weekend. This weekend we were so rudely (not JK) awaken by David's parents asking if we wanted to meet up at a park and have Hayden play. Of course, I was still sleep at this time (No it was 11am like the clock said, I set the clock wrong *side eye*) So we crawled out of bed like the zombies we felt like and went to the park. This was our third trip to the park spring started but I really love the park as you can see, and have plans to travel all over Fresno to visit and make use of our many parks.

Hayden had lots of fun playing on the playground. He even convinced himself that he liked swings and tried many unsuccessful times to get me to let him swing. But he paid me back by climbing over and over again the contraption in the first and second photos, stopping my heart every time he did it. One more way of him showing me how much he isn't my little baby anymore but my little toddler that wants to do what he wants and do everything himself. As you can see he had much fun of Sunday was the brighter end of a pretty dismal weekend. ;( SO far this week has been better, I don't have much planned for this coming week except maybe realizing BIG TIME and getting some major writing done while I have David around for the one day he has off. Yeah, he is working on Sunday. He has been putting in some crazy hours lately.  I am totally looking for him another job, the one he has just has gotten too time consuming and he is almost near home. He needs something else, *here's to hoping*

Weekend pt1

This weekend didn't even seem like a weekend. My husband worked all day on Saturday in fact I didn't know it was even a Saturday until 4:00pm! I was woken up by my sister and cousin saying that my mom wanted to see Hayden before she left. We spent of the time at my Mom's. It was bittersweet for me seeing my family leave Fresno, I am not even sure when I will see them again. Hard...

Then I put Hayden down for a nap and before I knew it David was home. My mom had a couch that used to belong to David's grandfather and we had to get it and move it over to our place. It looks pretty cool in our living room and now for some reason our looks more homely and less like an empty space.
For weeks now I have been on the look out for Hayden a big boy bed, I simply felt it was time. So when my mom mentioned she would be leaving hers, I decided to take it for Hayden. So Friday night, extremely exhausted and all my husband and I decided to get Hayden's bed up. Hayden helped, he hindered, he jumped relentlessly on the boxspring before we finally go the bed up and in a position I liked. I wanted him with full size bed, he ended up a huge queen size bed that makes him look like a doll when he sleeps in it.
But man was it needed. Hayden loves it so, so much, he plays on it, jumps on it, and on Saturday once we went home he played on it ...and ...fall...asleep. Yup, the big bed gets major points on the Mommy scale, plus now we can lay in bed together and read.

Backyard

Early in the week Hayden finally got to meet his Great Grandparents! They live in Washington and they finally got to visit! Hayden took to them immediately, talking up a storm and laughing also wanting to play outside. David's parents live on a farm and have a huge yard that Hayden decided to take full advantage of.

He loved playing

and exploring randomly

Our Week in Iphone pics

This week has been very busy. I found out very extremely last minute that Hayden and I's trip to Long Beach, Ca was pushed up. So I spent 3 days packing and not really updating anything so that I could be ready for the trip.

Photobucket
The first 2 pictures are of Hayden on the train after he settled down. He's actually looking out the window wish I could have taken more photos but I have to admit that I slept like a baby on the train and the bus.
3rd pic of Hayden about to open the gate to the backyard, for a surprise it was one of those electric cars. I got DSLR pics of him in it that I haven't uploaded just yet.
In long beach, I was reunited with my brand spankin' new niece who is my new muse when it comes to anything DSLR. She is an easy subject, she doesn't move that much!
Hayden playing with the remotes that I told him not to play with and me and my new hair style. I am used to my hair being way longer with my hair straightened so it feels odd still but on the flip side I wanted something new. I didn't want the bangs but now I kinda like them.

Photobucket
Hayden waiting for the train and his expression when it came in "Holy Smokes Batman!"

Photobucket
Hayden looking at the computer, me again, He has a thing for buckling car seats his and his cousins'. And finally Hayden simply being Hayden. Dimples. Dimples. Dimples.

Self Portrait

From the moment I got my DSLR Hayden has held a great fascination for it. He had a good habit of taking and snapping pictures my point and shoot too. I try to not endorse his passions in the camera because of fear of him scratching my lens. But he got a hold of my remote while the camera was my tripod and started snapping.

These beauties are from about a week back and all SOOC, straight out of the camera.

He used the remote that was in his hand

These he took today without a remote but by pressing the shutter release running back to where I stood posing then running back to press it again.

Day 18: plans/dreams/goals you have

I plan on separating my blog into two, one for Hayden, another for me. I dream that Hayden will grow up to be a warm, kind, responsible, level headed gentle. My biggest goal right now is to learn as much as I can about photography because I am obsessed.

I Heart California

Hmmm, is there something wrong with this picture?

Yes! Definitely, it has been forecasted to rain, to snow, to be overcast, damp and cloudy but everytime the Sun has come out to say "Ha ah" Several days in a row! Last weekend it did do a number on us it rained something fierce but the California is the opposite of Washington: Washington you enjoy the sun knowing the rain will be back tomorrow, and in California you enjoy the rain knowing the sun will be back tomorrow. Last Sunday, it was forcasted to snow, yes, snow in Fresno. This almost never happens unless you live in the mountains, so stump that myth now. California does get snow quite frequently just not in the cities usually. I've been thinking about braving it up North at Yosemite National Park just so that Hayden can play in the snow but is it worth the chains I would have to put on my tires, Me not so sure yet. There always next year. It has been a hot week with no complaints, I love the feel of sun on my skin after experiencing Winter, it is the best feeling. I first got this feeling when I was pregnant and winter was my enemy. It was toasty enough for SHORTS! I actually got to wear...wait for it...

Short sleeves, a skirt with tights and flip flops outside. I LOVE YOU FRESNO, Ca. I want to hug you.

So I decided that Hayden would love to get outside, so I asked he jumped up and down fiercely, running to the laundry room where I keep his squirt bottle. Lately he has been on a squirt bottle kick. After several indicidents where he either climbed incredibly high feats or snuck into "No-No" cabinets in order to obtain a spray bottle, I dumbed one of my bottles for vinegar and water, rinsed, and refilled with plain old H2O. He's been seriously naughty with it, spraying everything in sight.

We ventured onto our patio for a while with me snapping pictures the entire time until he sprayed my precious DLSR with water. Then it was game over. I prepared some food and he ate (he is really starting to be picky and a pecker with his food he is seriously living off of whole grain crackers because he won't touch any bread, eggs, yogurt, fruit, milk, lunch meat and cheese), dinner he will finish off in no time just not during the day will he stop to eat.

After we went inside Hayden got antsy so I decided to take an idea from Jess @ IROCKSOWHAT and lock him in our tennis courts to play. It was such a wonderful, I actually played ball with him and ran around. SOOO very fun.

I am thinking of going on some adventures to Selma Layne Park...

Day 13: A Letter To Someone

Dear someone...

2? Not yet! But getting there? Hayden, you turned 21 months a few days ago and I have noticed that I am way less emotional this year than last year. As a parent I can say with all honesty that I thought you'd never get to be 2. Not that I thought you wouldn't make it there. It's just that when entering my journey into motherhood, I wanted a baby. I wanted the cheeks with the love able fat, small clothes, holding an infant, rooms filled with the crystal pearls that is infant laughter - Not a toddler. Yeah, I knew you would grow up and over into one, that didn't mean I have to like it. Every time I thought of my baby growing into a noisy, busy terrible 2 tot, I cringed. I quickly Men in Black flashed it from my memory and envisioned babies, babies, babies. I wanted you to grow so we could do certain things still I never excepted such a change and that with every change and difference, you were shedding every bit of infancy.

Once you hit 1, I thought of you magically knowing everything and when that didn't happen instantly I settled back into "Oh, wait, at 1 you're still a baby? Score! You're just a big baby." Two months rushed by and I looked up and you were different: in looks, in proportion, in ability, and thought "and it begins."
You kicked into high ninja like action with lovely tantrums that sometimes made me pray David would get home, so that I could get a break. There was the lovely stage of whining for everything reason or no reason. I can't mark the day when your legs grew so long nor the day that your torso didn't grew from a tiny baby to hold torso into the long one you have now. I do recall the day I looked at you and saw "Wow, you look way different today. How did this happen." It was the weirdest thing, I thought you were like a changeling or something: same child, looks pretty much the same but you know the difference can sense the difference. With every passing month, at every end almost the beginning of a new one, you'd always change, or do something new. It could be as small as the way you looked at me, letting me know that you were thinking and calculating something. Or putting blocks in places you did before.
I never read stuff on toddlers the way I did infancy. I just didn't think much about toddlers. So in a way it has been a pleasant surprise that I love this age and even though I had lots of fun w/ "baby Hayden" You have no idea how much more fun you are now.
Sure I can't things away from you acting as if they have disappeared, you have long since overcome that, because you will follow to see where I put it and go get it again. In everything I have to be more crafty. I have learned the hard way that taking things and putting them high is a bad decision. You will money climb anything with no fear, wait strategically until my back is turned to retrieve it.
You raid my fridge at any given times. Grunting and gesturing that you want this and that. And after the millionth time of telling you "no, you can have this or that or - Okay, you can. Get in your chair," I ask myself how come the hospital never gave me a manual. Or when you tell me to "Shut up" with the gusto and 'tude of a child 5x your age, even though I never say the word. Or how you pick up words that I don't teach, or some you don't hear regularly, or comprehend things you shouldn't. (Well, that I think you shouldn't).
Then are the days, I trip over a toy, raving mad with embarrassment and frustration, and you come "You hurt? You hurt? I sorry, I sorry." As you rub my head. "Hug?" You hug me, "ahhh" (something I always say and now he says its really cute) and you offer a kiss, another rub before you grab my hand to show me something that you want to do. Be still my heart.
Even though I sometimes don't need you in my hair, pulling on me, asking me to come play with this or that and I'm really trying to get something done. I flash to the days that will come when I'm no longer a buddy, but "ew, Mom." And my time spent with you has dried up and you're off with Sally or Sue while hanging out with you buddies.
2 years are about to come, and I just think wow, 2 years, then 2 more, oh my 4 then 2 more you're in school already? Then 2 more, and wow you're my real big boy. My first, my eldest, the one I experienced everything with for the very first time. The first baby I carried for 9 months of anticipation, small kicks, and obsessive planning, the first baby that was mine to be held underneath a myriad of kisses and soft lips grazing your hair as I rocked you to sleep, eased the battle wounds of toddlerhood, or simply just while cuddling. The first baby I held on my chest awake way pass midnight just getting you to sleep because you refuse to close your eyes and lose sight of me even for your own good, to sleep next to me on my bed (Be still my heart, are these tears?) to awake next to, to go to sleep next to, to breath the same breath on gray and black dotted sheets night day, night day. For me to open my eyes to your soft breathing next to me, clutching me just a little too tightly, still loose in your valley of dreams but needing to know even in that valley that I am near.
You are my son, my love, my cliche. The tiny person that runs up and down my house babbling ferociously on his fake telephone, reminding of a business man whose stock has just plummeted. You are well versed, forever learning, forever getting into trouble, growing beyond any limits I have set, and faster than my brain can sometimes catch are process. You are Hayden. And I do love you.

And PICTURES!!
This one is not edited but the others are, the last is new, but the two in the middle are dos from the photos I posted earlier in the week. See how much I've learned?

Just Right

Pictures! The other day I finally got around to getting my photos transferred unto the computer. I slowly messed around with Photoshop Elements 7, experimenting with lighting and color the most. I wish I could do a before and after but there is no point because the following pictures I originally took without a flash and the camera on drive, so the pictures were EXTREMELY dark. I just liked them so much I tried to save them. I am glad that I was about to do some color on them and fix some of the lighting (not all the pictures I could) but these I really liked the way the turned out so far. I just think that I could do way more with them, I just don't know how, such as softening, better warming on some. I'm learning but I'm sure I will get there. Another drawback, I was disappointed about was the noise that is in the picture. It is pretty grainy, but overall I like them.

These 3 pictures are the same I just did different things with them and couldn't decide which I liked better.

This picture is more natural with tone and lightening

This one is very light and pale

I liked the orange-ish glow of his skin in this one and how warm it is

I would some feedback, comments are not only welcome but encouraged. What's your favorite? Got any tips or recommends? Do share?

Catching the Green Monster

I'm on the computer editing some pictures when I notice...

Silence...

Every Mommy knows silence is never golden

I called Hayden and he ran into my room, mouth wide, bearing his pearly whites, with this on his hand.....

My heart dropped, I jumped up, running into his room to inspect the damage

He got green on everything

He presented it so proudly I couldn't even be mad

I told him paper, pointing to the paper that was on his desk
his response "ooo, oh man. " Grrr.

I set to work cleaning and he came over

"I sorry"

My heart grew 2x man "I'm sorry" I told him it was okay and gave him a baby wipe when he insisted on helping

I love him so much it is ridiculous and my oh my are we growing and changing

NOT so Wordless Wednesday

"Hey, what's this?"

"Hmm, Mommy took it away...so I'll take it..."

"Need to be slick about this...is she looking? Wait for it..."

"She moved! Go, go, go!"

"Goal!"
